A 40,000-page chargesheet filed by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau against senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
In the Mohali special court, a 40,000-page chargesheet in the case of Disproportionate Assets and Drug Money Laundering against Bikram Singh Majithia was brought to the court by the Vigilance team packed in boxes.
The investigating agency claims that Majithia's links were connected to International Drug Smugglers.
The Vigilance Bureau's main allegation is that Majithia, using his influence and public positions—such as MLA and minister roles from 2007 to 2017—illegally amassed hundreds of crores of rupees from the drug trade.
Majithia laundered approximately ₹736 crore in drug earnings through his own accounts, those of his associates, and family companies like Saraya Industries Limited, among others.
Funds were brought into India through Cyprus and other shell companies and used to create illegal assets.
The chargesheet includes financial transactions, bank statements, shell companies, and statements from eyewitnesses as evidence.
The investigation provides a detailed account of suspicious cash deposits and foreign funds that entered the bank accounts of Majithia, his close associates, and collaborators during his tenure from 2007 to 2017.
The Vigilance Bureau arrested Majithia in June 2025 and registered a case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and for possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
Majithia and his party, the Akali Dal, have consistently described all these allegations as motivated by "Political Vendetta." They claim this is a step taken solely as a political conspiracy against him by the Punjab AAP government.
